Official releases of Tinkerbus for Windows and Linux, and how to check them.

Official releases are published on git.tinkerbus.org. The newest one is at releases/latest. Releases whose version has a suffix (for example v0.2.0-rc1) are marked as pre-releases.

Tinkerbus is young software. Programming a device changes its memory, and a failed load can leave a device unusable until ETS loads it again. Back up your projects first, and read the safety notes before you write to a device.

Files

Each release has these files, with the version in the name (tinkerbus-v0.2.0-...):

FileFor
...-windows-amd64-installer.exeWindows 10 and 11, 64 bit. Installs Tinkerbus and sets up WebView2 if it is missing
...-windows-amd64.exeThe same program without an installer
...-linux-amd64.tar.gzLinux, 64 bit. Needs GTK 3 and WebKitGTK 4.1 (libwebkit2gtk-4.1) installed
SHA256SUMSThe SHA-256 checksum of every file above

There are no macOS builds yet. On any platform you can build from source.

The files are not code-signed, so Windows may show a SmartScreen warning when you start them.

Check a download

Put SHA256SUMS in the folder of the downloaded file and run

sha256sum --ignore-missing -c SHA256SUMS

On Windows, certutil -hashfile <file> SHA256 prints the checksum to compare with the line in SHA256SUMS.

The checksums come from the same place as the files, so they protect against a corrupt download, not against someone who could replace both.

Which version am I running?

A release build reports its version in the report that the feedback form prepares. A build from source reports the first characters of its commit instead.
