Programming
The Programming section (and the Program tab of a device, which is the same panel fixed to that device) loads the settings of a project device into a real device. Read safety and the workflow first.
It needs a project, a connection, and Allow sending.
What to load
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Project device | The device whose settings are loaded |
| Address on the bus | The individual address the device will have afterwards. Empty means the same as the project device |
| New device | Tick it when the device has no address yet. Press its programming button; it answers at 15.15.255 (change the field if it answers elsewhere), and Tinkerbus assigns the address first |
| Load | Everything (application program, parameters, group communication), or partial: parameters only, group communication only, or both |
| without group address links | Load the settings with no group address link, so the device takes part in no group communication |
| program defaults instead of the project settings | Load the application program defaults |
| read all memory for the backup | Read everything for the backup even where that is slow. Some System B devices answer about every 10 seconds |
Check device
Check device only reads. It reads the device (manufacturer, serial number, mask), saves a backup of its memory and shows:
- the device and program, the address it will have, the serial number and the backup file;
- how many octets (or load images, for System B devices) differ from the settings;
- warnings, if the image has any;
- the Steps a load would perform.
If the device already holds the settings, it says so.
Write
After a check, a Write box appears. It names the serial number of the device and warns that a load stopped half way leaves the device without its application. You type the target address to confirm, and click Write to the device. If the image had warnings, you must tick load although the image has warnings. A progress bar and a log follow.
IP routers are not loaded from the application: the connection through the router ends with its restart. Use
knxprogram for them.
A successful full load is remembered for the download reminder.
If the mask version of the device or of the program has no load plan, the check stops with a message that lists the supported masks and offers Send the project the details, which opens a report.
Not built yet: programming several devices in a row, and a progress view tested with long loads.
