Independence and trademarks
Tinkerbus and knxprod-index are independent projects. They are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the KNX Association.
KNX and ETS are trademarks of the KNX Association. Other product and company names on this site and in the product databases that the index lists are trademarks of their owners. They are used to name the things Tinkerbus works with and for no other purpose.
Tinkerbus does not contain, and the project does not distribute, ETS software. It does not require ETS or an ETS licence, and it does not handle ETS licences.
Licence
A licence has not been chosen for Tinkerbus or for knxprod-index yet. Until one is published in the repositories, the default applies: all rights are reserved by the authors, and you have no permission to copy, modify or distribute the code beyond what the law allows. This page will be updated when a licence is chosen.
The documentation on this site is part of the project and follows the same decision.
Product databases and manufacturers’ files
The .knxprod files listed by the online index belong to their manufacturers, who may publish them under
their own licence. The index links to them and, for some sources, serves copies; see
Crawler and contact for how sources are chosen and how to ask for removal. Using a product database
is subject to the terms of its manufacturer.
Warranty
Tinkerbus is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. It can write to devices in a building. A mistake, a bug or a device it has not been tried on can leave a device without its application or change how an installation behaves. You are responsible for what you do with it. Test on a device you can recover, keep your project files, and read the safety page.
Responsible use
Do not use Tinkerbus on installations you are not authorised to work on. Sending telegrams and loading devices can affect heating, lighting, access, alarms and other functions of a building.
Privacy
- This site is static. It has no accounts and no analytics scripts, and it loads no resources from other hosts.
- The Tinkerbus application sends nothing to any server unless you switch the online catalog on or confirm a download of the KNX master data. The online catalog then sends the words you search for and the ids of files you install to the address you set. See Catalog.
- The online index and the other hosts of this project are ordinary web services and may keep access logs (address, time, path). A statement on what is kept and for how long will be added here.
