Status and open items

What is verified, what is not, and what is still open in Tinkerbus.

This page follows the project’s own to-do list. It is a snapshot; the source of truth is TODO.md in the repository.

Maturity

  • First commit in October 2026. No release, no tags, no version number.
  • No continuous integration yet. The Go and TypeScript test suites run locally.
  • A licence has not been chosen. See Legal.

Verified on real hardware

See Programming: verified masks for the details. In short: full loads were done on devices of mask versions 0x0021, 0x0705, 0x07B0, 0x091A and 0x0012.

Not verified on hardware

  • KNXnet/IP routing (multicast) and KNX USB. Both exist as library code and are not used by the application or the tools.
  • Device management property read and write.
  • Scans of lines other than 1.1.
  • Partial downloads with a changed project on real devices. The plans equal the reference downloads, and the to-do list records hardware runs only with an unchanged project (so the content stayed the same), none yet for mask 0x0021, and for the IP router one group communication write whose filter table was already identical.
  • Saved and extended projects opened in ETS 6 (signature, minimal device instance attributes).
  • The narrow window layouts were only seen at one window size. The interface has not been checked with a screen reader.

Open work

Application

  • Network view: live telegram flow on the map, line couplers that exist as devices (filter tables are not evaluated there, every telegram is assumed to pass), export of the map as an image.
  • Icons for group address ranges and the catalog, a user choice of the device icon.
  • Devices and places: add a device from the catalog straight into a room, select several devices at once, a drag handle for touch screens.
  • Catalog: drop a .knxprod file onto the window, watch folders for new files, a “Find online” button for products the open project lacks, an update check for installed files.
  • Programming: a progress view for long loads (only seen in the layout), several devices in a row, a search for the programming button of new devices, IP routers (the gateway connection ends with their restart, so use knxprogram).
  • Group objects: objects of modules that are not linked yet.

Programming

  • Read and read-on-init flags, other load control steps, and objects with more than one group address on masks other than 0x0705.
  • Mask 0x0705: the load has been written to one device (1.1.8), not to other devices of that type.
  • Mask 0x07B0: calculation scripts other than the ones the heating actuators use are not understood.
  • Mask 0x091A (IP router): some octets of the image come from a computation that is not reproduced, so the load keeps what the device holds there and warns. The group filter table is only supported in default routing. Secure configuration and fixed IP assignment are not built. Partial loads for “parameters” and “both” run the whole load procedure on routers, as the reference downloads do.
  • Mask 0x0012: verified with at most one group address. The image warns for more.
  • The scope of a partial load is chosen by hand, not from change flags in the project.

Project and catalog

  • Translations, nested modules, repeated and calculated parameters.
  • Group object sizes can show the program default instead of the real size.
  • A project signature that ETS accepts.

Blocked or not planned for now

  • IP Secure (needs the specification or a secure gateway to test against).
  • Marketplace download (needs a login, endpoints not public).
  • ETS 4 and ETS 5 project import.
  • Licence handling.
